01NOV1998 Contract on State-of-the-art In-line Blending Facilities in Bahrain

JGC has won a contract from The Bahrain Petroleum Company B.S.C., Bahrain's state-owned petroleum company, to construct modern in-line blending facilities designed to produce gasoline, diesel oil, and fuel oil in the Bahrain's Sitra Refinery. This is the first order to be placed with JGC for in-line blending facilities.

The Bahrain Petroleum Company B.S.C. is planning to modernize its existing the Sitra Refinery (with a throughput of 267,000 BPSD) with the aim of giving its products higher added values and to make them more environment-friendly. The present project, one such modernization measure, is to rebuild the existing gasoline/diesel oil/fuel oil blending facilities into one of the world's most modern in-line blending facilities.

The facilities are composed of three sections, handling batch blending of gasoline and diesel oil, and continuous blending of fuel oil. Employing the latest analyzers, these are state-of-the-art systems that can monitor and control on-line the blending state of the products. Production capacity is 3,250 barrels/hour for gasoline, 10,000 barrels/hour for diesel oil, and 8,700 barrels/hour for fuel oil.

The contractual services, under a lump-sum turnkey contract, include design, materials/equipment procurement, construction and test run for the main facilities as well as auxiliary facilities including an analyzer room. Delivery is scheduled for May 2000.

The facilities provide the most effective blending functions, thereby eliminating any costly requirement for re-blending, and feature reduced tank facilities. This enables a reduction in maintenance cost and better efficiency in production.
