Yokohama, Japan - JGC Corporation and its subsidiary JGC Arabia Ltd. have been awarded by Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services contract for a large-size Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) recovery plant. This project is located in Hawiyah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, about 180 km southwest of Dhahran and about 270 km east of Riyadh. Project completion is scheduled for the first quarter of 2008.

Saudi Arabia has recently embarked on a major expansion of its gas production facilities and downstream industry in order to meet growing domestic demand, particularly from petrochemical production, power generation and water desalination facilities. In line with its national program, Saudi Aramco is increasing production of NGL and ethane for use as feedstock through a series of new construction projects.

As a part of this strategy, Saudi Aramco plans a new NGL recovery plant at Hawiyah. The new plant will have a capacity of 310,000 bpd of NGL and feedstock will be provided by the natural gas treatment plants at Hawiyah and Haradh. The newly recovered ethane-rich NGL will be sent to other domestic petrochemical complexes by pipeline for further downstream processing.

Having constructed both of the existing natural gas treatment plants at Hawiyah and Haradh, JGC believes its accumulated experience in Saudi Arabia, and its distinguished technical background, have contributed to winning the contract for the new NGL Recovery Plant project.

Numerous petrochemical projects are being planned in Saudi Arabia and other countries in the Middle East region. JGC will make further enhanced efforts to win contracts on those projects.
