Yokohama, Japan - A joint venture called the "Kellogg Joint Venture - Greater Gorgon", comprised of JGC Corporation, KBR, Clough and HATCH, has been awarded the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) and an option for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) Contract by the "Gorgon Joint Venture" for the "Greater Gorgon Downstream Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project", to be constructed at Barrow Island in Western Australia.
The Kellogg Joint Venture - Greater Gorgon is comprised of JGC (30%), KBR (30%), Clough (20%) and HATCH (20%). The Gorgon Joint Venture is comprised of the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron (50%), Shell (25%) and ExxonMobil (25%).
The contract calls for the FEED work for the two-train (10 mtpa) LNG plant on Barrow Island. When constructed, the facility will accept natural gas from the Greater Gorgon Field and produce LNG for export, with domestic sales gas being fed into the existing mainland distribution network. The plant is expected to begin producing LNG in mid-2010.
