Yokohama, Japan - JGC Corporation announced that the Huaibei Cement CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) Project in China has been sanctioned on July 5th by the Japanese government, as the investor country, following its April 2nd approval by the Chinese government, as the host country.
This project is being carried out at the site of a plant belonging to Huaibei Cement Co., Ltd., which is a subsidiary of Huaibei Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. in Huaibei city, Anfui Province, China. The project involves the construction of a power generation facility (4.5MW) which utilizes low-temperature waste heat recovery systems that make use of waste heat from kilns in the cement plant.
By introducing the systems, the plant can achieve more effective use of waste gas, energy savings and environmental conservation. JGC will purchase CDM emission credits equivalent to a total of 22,000 tons of CO2 annually from Huaibei Cement.
JGC is committed to continued participation in the CDM business as part of its contribution to global greenhouse gas reductions. |
