LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) is produced by cooling natural gas down to -162 deg. C. It consists of methane as the main component, contains almost no impurities and emits extremely low levels of nitrogen oxide when burning. Therefore, the need for LNG as clean energy is now expanding, and construction of many larger-capacity LNG projects is planned worldwide. For such LNG projects, JGC, as an industry top-ranking company, is continuously improving its expertise and introducing state-of-the-art technologies. The number of LNG trains awarded to JGC to date totals 31, with a total production volume of approximately 90 million tons annually (more than 40% of the world share). In 1999, JGC formed a gas alliance with KBR of the U.S. Since then, the JGC/KBR joint venture has designed and constructed LNG projects that meet more than 50% of worldwide requirements.
