Regenerative medicine calls for the in vitro culture of cells in order to restore or repair organs and other body parts damaged by disease or accident. As one of the goals of 21st century medicine, current technologies are achieving remarkable breakthroughs in the area of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. HCT/Ps(*) for regenerative medicine are produced using aseptic processing, demanding the fullest level of compliance with applicable GTPs (Good Tissue Practices) and GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices). JGC has constructed Japan’s first HCT/Ps production facility established for commercial manufacturing, drawing on the company’s technologies developed for the design and construction of pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities and R&D laboratories, as well as long accumulated experience. Such technologies have been applied, among others, in the area aseptic processing and cell cultivation, and are subject to validation and GMP-compliance requirements. The regenerative medicine sector is expected to grow rapidly. JGC’s clear aim is to contribute further to such sector growth by designing and constructing optimal regenerative medical facilities.
