JGC provides the optimization study, selection of process, basic design, detailed design and procurement, construction work contract and operation support in regard to the elimination of hydrogen sulfide, mercaptan, COS and sour gas including carbon dioxide from gas/LPG at oil refinery plants, gas plants, and chemical plants. JGC is also the Shell Process Licenser, and performs the design package task for the Adip/Sulfinol process as well. As for the rich carbon dioxide, JGC can carry out study, design, enforcement, and operation support for the hydrogen sulfide enrichment process. In addition, JGC offers the study and consultancy work in regard to the amine degradation. Achievements ( - 2002) |

| Sulfur Recovery | ||||
Design Drawing of Sulfur Recovery unit |
JGC's unique process for the sulfur recovery unit uses the Claus method that recovers sulfur from hydrogen sulfide. By using a single thermal Claus burner, a high rate of sulfur recovery from the hydrogen sulfide is achieved together with ammonia decomposition. JGC is a Shell "Scot" licensee for the Claus tail gas treating unit; JGC carries out a total optimization study, basic design, design package creation, detailed design, procurement, construction, and operation support of these technologies and the related facilities. JGC also carries out a selection study, design, procurement, and construction for the Claus sulfur recovery unit, Liquid Redox, and Claus tail gas treating unit that are not JGC proprietary technologies. In addition JGC can perform a design and application study, procurement, construction and operation support for liquid sulfur degasification processes and various sulfur solidification units. Achievements ( - 2002) |

| Flue-Gas Desulfurization | ||||
| JGC performs design/fabrication of both wet and dry type flue-gas desulfurization. The Limestone-Gypsum process and magnesium hydroxide process are available as wet type processes. An absorption tower uses the Moretana process that has high absorption efficiency with less plugging problems. With respect to dry type processes, the solid absorbent process and activated carbon process (simultaneous desulfurization and denitration) are available. Applicable waste gas sources are boilers in power plants, FCC CO boilers, and furnaces in oil refinery plants. | ||||
Achievements ( - 2002) JGC has delivered two Limestone-Gypsum processes, two magnesium hydroxide processes, and one each of the activated carbon process and solid absorbent process. |

| Flue Gas Denitrification | ||||
| JGC performs design/fabrication of SCR flue gas denitration processes, and has a number of successful achievements. | ||||
