It can be said that the mission of the construction engineer is to complete the project speedily, within the budget, while maintaining the specified safety and quality standards, using "engineering drawings" and the supplied "materials and equipment". However, the method to complete this mission, that is the construction method, varies depending on the environment and various other conditions. Furthermore, various problems might occur during the execution phase, some of which can be predicted while some are impossible to predict. When a problem arises, it requires an instantaneous decision based on identifying the nature of an issue with limited time available to solve the problem dynamically. JGC's 4D CAD SYSTEM has made it possible to simulate such situations visually even from the planning phase. There are two technologies within the 4D CAD SYSTEM, one is "Construction Method Simulation" using 3D CAD model data, and the other is "Schedule Visual Simulation" that has been built by combining the schedule data from the general schedule network tool and the 3D CAD model data. With these simulations, the 4D CAD SYSTEM enables the construction engineer to support the construction plan while monitoring and understanding the site scenes on his PC at all times. Therefore, the 4D CAD SYSTEM performs a critical role to enable JGC to carry out a project that is satisfactory for the customer by raising the efficiency of the work, reducing the potential risk under various conditions during the construction work, and supporting a high quality of construction. |
