Life Prediction Assessment System for Furnace Tubes
For use with Cr-Mo steel furnace tubes long used in commercial plants, JGC has offered a life prediction assessment service over more than 20 years of performing and recording the results of destructive tests including a creep rupture test. Using of this database, JGC makes available new life estimation system for furnace tubes through nondestructive inspections. JGC has a vast compilation of data on creep rupture tests of long used Cr-Mo steel tubes as well as an extensive database on fluctuation ranges of metallographic properties (metallographic fluctuations and carbide transformations). Given a material to be evaluated for life prediction, this system develops a nondestructive inspection technique for the test material, determining the material's metallographic properties for evaluation with reference to the compiled database, enabling an estimation of the degree of deterioration in the material.

Features

  • Adoption of nondestructive inspections, in contrast with conventional destructive tests including a creep rupture test
  • Speedy assessment (several weeks in contrast with several months by destructive tests)
  • Assessment at several points at a time
  • Highly reliable assessment drawing on a database compiled through tests with actual aged materials in commercial plants
  • Direct assessment of life expectancy, not life consumption rate

Applications

  • 2.25 Cr-1Mo steel furnace tubes (i.e, Platformer furnace tubes)

Experiences

  • Furnace tubes for platformer
