JGC Corporation was founded in 1928 as Japan's first engineering contractor. Over its 80 years of operation as a "technological innovator without borders", the company has been involved in well over 20,000 projects, in Japan and in over 70 countries around the world.

The wide range of projects performed by JGC for its valued clients cover the fields of hydrocarbons, including oil and gas development, petroleum refining, LNG, gas processing, and petrochemicals, as well as involvement in environmental protection, nuclear power, nonferrous metals, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and medical centers. The company has always taken special interest in satisfying client requirements by drawing fully on our expertise in engineering technology and project management, while making the maximum level of efforts in the health, safety and the environment (HSE) area. For all of this, JGC has received acclaim both domestically and internationally.

Today's global economy, once lead by the so-called advanced countries of the G8, is now increasingly influenced by the G20 as the alignment that includes emerging economies. Notably in the energy sector, the voices of emerging nations are being increasingly heard, some of which are affecting the world’s energy supply against a background of abundant resources.

Meanwhile, alternative energy sources are being vigorously sought worldwide with the aim of creating low-carbon-use societies. Furthermore, issues surrounding water and food are gaining prominence. The world is changing quickly.

Starting in April 2011, JGC adopted "NEW HORIZON 2015," a new medium-term management plan. Under this plan, JGC will maintain and strength its core EPC business, while simultaneously nurturing and expanding its investment business and planning and management service, with the aim of becoming a "Program Management Contractor and Investment Partner."
