Urban infrastructure development involves everything from lifeline systems like water, power, transportation, and communication, to security systems like police and fire departments, medical, and housing facilities, to cultural and educational systems. Standards of living are rising in developing countries, and rising with them are demands for environmentally-friendly, sustainable urban development. In order to meet these various needs, JGC has developed its "smart and compact community" concept, to serve as a base for application of its engineering technologies and project management expertise to the infrastructure and urban development business.
Using the concept of a "smart city—involving water, power, waste disposal, transportation and other social infrastructure elements interlinked by information technology systems—JGC believes it will be possible to realize high-efficiency, low-carbon communities that have a minimum impact on the environment.
Bearing in mind the business philosophies of the clients, as well as the unique characteristics of each region, JGC will participate in all stages of urban infrastructure development, from support of basic concept formulation through to operation and maintenance. JGC will also contribute at the development stage as an investment partner, offering an integrated package of business operation services. |
